Kingswood Mount is a purpose built care home which has very recently come into the ownership of Harbour Healthcare and was previously called St Michael’s Mount. The home offers both residential and nursing care and is able to care and support for those who suffer the impact of dementia on their lives.
Situated in an enclosed walled garden, Kingswood Mount enjoys peace and quiet and garden views, which really adds to its relaxed and homely atmosphere. Harbour Healthcare, a family run care group, understands the importance of, and puts great emphasis on, the living environment within their homes. As a consequence a full redecoration and refurbishment programme of the home is already underway. The lounge was a top priority and has transformed in to a comfortable and homely room with new chairs and sofas, sideboards and artwork. Both residents and families are giving excellent feedback and now use the lounge far more than they did. The conservatory has undergone a facelift as have corridors and now the redecoration of the dining room and residents rooms is underway and will soon be finished.
More than this, meals and refreshments have become top priority and home cooked meals now feature on the menu, as it is hoped that we can tempt even those with the smallest appetite to eat a well-balanced diet. Resident favourite meals now feature in the menu planning as regular feature.
The experienced and dedicated care team are well led by a team of nurses who are able to offer the best of personal and nursing care. Each resident has their own care plan to explain the care and support they need, highlighting their own wishes about that care. This ‘person centered’ approach to care is essential to providing care of a very high quality. Before move in it is also helpful for the home to gather ‘life history’ for the potential resident, to assist with a smooth and happy move in experience. Residents are also encouraged to bring along as many personal items as they need to make their rooms feel ‘like home’ and we can give every assistance to make that happen.
With a dedicated activities coordinator and the availability of the Harbour Healthcare minibus there are opportunities for residents to have trips away from the home and also have fun with others. Group activities, music and entertainment, as well as individual time with residents, ensure that days are varied and interesting.
The home makes visitors welcome and the home offers a large lounge, conservatory, dining room and landscaped garden spaces for residents to sit and chat. The home has a lift for accessibility and large car park.
