Recognition for Head Chef at National Awards

By: Harbour Healthcare

Clare Broadbent, Head Chef at Devonshire House, went on to win the Hygiene Award last week, competing against 11 other finalists in the NACC Care Chef of the Year 2025

The judges recognised not only her great choice of dishes, but also her skill level and calm, organised manner throughout, as well as her near zero waste. Butchering the rabbit in front of the judges was just one of the examples of her skill shown! The competition is the only Care Sector specific, independent competition in the UK which sees top chefs cooking in front of a team of judges including individuals from the Worshipful Company of Cooks and the Craft Guild of Chefs – both of which span across all of the hospitality sector, from restaurants to hotels to public sector catering.

It is a high-pressured competition taking them out of the comfort zone of their own kitchen with at times equipment that is different to their own. Harbour Healthcare are truly proud to have her in the Catering team. An inspiration and great example of what can be achieved.

Her dishes were Rabbit saddle ballotine with fondant potatoes, broad beans, butternut squash and spinach followed by a chocolate pudding with berry compote

CONGRATULATIONS CLARE!
