Accompanied by his daughter, George was in the stands last weekend as Sunderland clinched victory in a thrilling match. His joy was captured in a touching photograph, his face beaming with pride and excitement.

But the story doesn’t end there. In a remarkable behind-the-scenes gesture, former Sunderland owner Stewart Donald stepped in to personally arrange — and fund — George’s special trip. The act of generosity made a lifelong dream come true for a fan who has supported the Black Cats for nearly a century.

“Well done to Sunderland, and well done to George — a true fan who finally got to see his team win at Wembley,” said a spokesperson for the care home.
